As you can tell from the title, I decided to use this journal entry to plug some Kickstarter Projects I found interesting. I would really like to see these projects get funded, so I hope you give them serious consideration. I also hope you share them. The more people know about them, the more likely they are to get funded.
91%: A Documentary About Guns In America.
www.kickstarter.com/projects/1…
Funding Goal: $60,000.00
Current Funding: $5,734.00
Deadline: Jan 12th, 2015, 9:44 AM EST
This is something I think needs to be funded. In 2013, after a tragedy in Newton, the US citizens demanded better gun safety. 91% of Americans voted in favour of instant, comprehensive background checks on all gun buyers. However, the US House of Representatives did nothing about it. Their claim? It fell short of the 60 "yes" votes necessary for passage. Made by John Richie, the man who made the Film Shell Shocked (about gun violence in New Orleans), 91% is a documentary that dares to ask the question of why so many people who buy guns aren't given background checks. This, I feel, could be a very eye-opening movie. These are questions that just might need to be asked, issues that just might need to be addressed. You might learn things about gun safety in the USA you never even thought about before.
Maggie Dewdrop And The Feather Of Flight.
www.kickstarter.com/projects/1…
Funding Goal: $15,000.00
Current Funding: $1,635.00
Deadline: Dec 21st, 2014, 11:59AM EST
Now here is a book I think a little kid might like. Maggie Dewdrop And The Feather Of Flight is a children's book (duh) written by Gregg W. Millo. The story follows, of course, Maggie Dewdrop, a young mouse who was raised by bats. From what I can extrapolate on the Kickstarter page itself, Maggie dreams to be able to fly with her bat family. However, she can't because she's a mouse, which means she has no wings with which to fly. One night, she meets an owl who, rather than try to eat her, gives Maggie a feather which allows her the ability to fly. I think this would be a very nice story for young children. The artist himself has said that he made Maggie a mouse because he wants her to be relateable to people who have themselves felt like they are very small people in a very big world. He hopes children will connect the dots in Maggi's story to their own lives and realizes how they should embrace who they are. That may sound a bit cliche, but it does sound like the sort of story people might enjoy to me.
Wizard's Day - An Indie Adventure Game for PC/Mac and Wii U.
www.kickstarter.com/projects/1…
Funding Goal: $15,000.00
Current Funding: $945.00
Deadline: Dec 17th, 2014, 9:01AM EST.
The main reason I'm plugging this is because it's said to come to the Wii U. Sure, that might not be the best of reasons, but I'll do it all the same. Wizard's Day is an adventure-platformer game coming to the PC, Mac, and of course, Wii U. You play as Merlicus, a wizard who wielded The Staff of Light to save the kingdom from the evil Warlock Zorgamor and his Staff of Darkness. Unfortunately, Merlicus is vanquished by Zorgamor, who cast a spell that turned the people of the kingdom to stone. Merlicus is saved by the Staff of Light, but the staff was shattered protecting him. Zorgamor used the last of The Staff of Darkness' magic to banish you to a dark forest, shattering it in the process. Now, Merlicus must travel the land, fighting monsters and solving puzzles to collect the pieces of the staff to defeat Zorgamor and undo his spell. I think this game might make a neat addition to the Wii U's library. The gameplay kinda reminds me of The Quest For The Staff Of Demnos (never played it, but I saw it on YouTube). I think it might be a game I would play.
4.Jesus Right Before You: Music For Intimate Prayer.
www.kickstarter.com/projects/9…
Funding Goal: $10,000.00
Current Funding: $0.00
Deadline: Jan 19th, 2015, 12:34 PM EDT.
What would you say to Jesus if he was sitting in a chair right in front of you? This music is meant to help you to visualize that, to help you to build a closer, more intimate relationship with God. The idea came to the person trying to fund this when they were driving home from a late-night sermon, and popped in some piano music. When it played, the mental image of Jesus came to her, and she knew what she had to do. This sounds like a nice project to me, and I hope it does to you to.
Those are the projects I felt the most like plugging. I hope you like them enough to help fund them.

Steamboat Willie: The Game
We all know Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and Pete are all officially public domain now, along with the cartoons "Steamboat Willie", "The Gallopin' Gaucho", and "Plane Crazy". As a result, people are free to use them however they like (provided it's the original 1928 renditions of them, of course). Well, not long after this announcement was made, a couple of Horror projects have risen up on the internet in the form of "Infestation: Origins" and "Mickey's Mouse Trap". I will probably find myself watching the latter at some point in the future. However, this isn't about them. For you see, there is a non-horror Mickey Mouse-based game that has been announced that I think could use a little exposure. That being "Steamboat Willie: The Game". It's a game that has you driving the titular Steamboat. Your mission is to ferry cargo to various ports on the river, upgrading your boat as you go. That's what was revealed so far, at least. You can check out the trailer here. Steamboat Willie
Tried out All The Tropes.
Since I can't edit on TV Tropes anymore, I thought I might give another site like it a try. The website I chose is called All The Tropes. Today, I tried to make a Works page on All The Tropes for a book known as "Stella by Starlight" by Sharon M. Draper (if anyone has read that book and knows it inside-out, I would like to urge you to make a page for it on TV Tropes). The book follows a young girl named Stella, who's living in Bumblebee, North Carolina in 1932. Times weren't good to be a black person there. You couldn't go certain places, people looked at you like you were some sort of freak of nature, and you needed special papers to be allowed to vote. Anyway, one night, Stella and her little brother Jojo go out and spot a cross burning by the Ku Klux Klan across the lake. When they tell their parents, soon the whole neighbourhood is up in arms, and with good reason because, you know, Ku Klux Klan. Anyway, despite the presence of the Klan, the people of the black
Can't edit on TV Tropes anymore
I know I haven't posted any journal entries in a while, but this is something I think I need to get off my chest. Perhaps spilling my guts to like-minded individuals can help. Since the mid-2010s, I've had an account on TV Tropes. Since then, I've been all about making pages for Works that aren't as mainstream as others you would know. I've made pages for video games, movies, cartoons, comic books, and even a couple of manga and toys. It hasn't always been perfect. Some days I would struggle to come up with a good Work to make a page of that day. And sometimes I've had my editing privileges suspended. A couple of times it was for launching new tropes before all the problems could be sorted out. And for others, it's because I have a bad habit of adding Zero Context Examples, using the title of the trope as a form of context. Well, that second one has now permanently cost me some freedom on TV Tropes. On Friday, I made a page for a video game called "LUNA: The Shadow Dust".
Never Forget Them.
Today is an important day.
It's the day we remember those who fought and died for the freedoms we enjoy today. Keep them in your hearts, and remember, you probably wouldn't be where you are today if not for their sacrifice.
